Project Brief

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel similar to conventional or 'fossil' diesel. Biodiesel can be produced from straight vegetable oil, animal oil/fats, tallow and waste cooking oil. The process used to convert these oils to Biodiesel is called trans-esterification.Biodiesel quality continues to be a concern for diesel engine makers, fleet managers, and the public in general. Variability in the quality of biodiesel, coupled with the high cloud point of biodiesel produced from certain feedstock’s, has resulted in the ASTM adopting more stringent biodiesel standards.

Distilling biodiesel produces the purest form of biodiesel possible and dramatically reduces cold filterability of most feedstock’s. Another advantage of distilled biodiesel is that no further washing is required, so dry washing Ion Exchange or Magnesol is unnecessary.

  • Chemsys has designed the system for the Feedstock containing 90% crude esters along glyceride and other associated impurity. This is feed to biodiesel distillation column which operates at lowest vacuum. Highest Purity Biodiesel is removed from top and impurities separate from bottom of column. Heating source will be provided through thermic fluid whereas cooling media used is cooling tower water.

Construction & Commissioning

Even though we faced stiff challenge in fabricating this equipment due to very big size, project is completed in record 6 months’ time which demonstrate the strength of Chemsys to handle such large scale & complex project.
